Online Colour Analysis: How to Prepare & Take the Right Photos

Proper preparation for a colour analysis and body shape analysis before an online consultation with a stylist is essential to achieving the best results.

Especially if you want to better understand how to choose clothes and colours that suit you best and enhance your natural features.

This will ensure that you receive personalised advice on colours and clothing styles that enhance your natural beauty and bring out your individual style.

If you are reading this post, you have probably already decided to have an online consultation covering body shape and colour analysis, so I don't need to explain how essential this knowledge is for creating a cohesive and satisfying personal style.

If, however, you would like to learn more about the benefits, I encourage you to read this post:

Colour analysis – what is it and why is this knowledge so important when creating your everyday wardrobe.

Before starting the online session, it is worth gathering some useful information and preparing the appropriate photographs.

Here are some important steps to help you prepare properly for your online colour and body shape analysis with a stylist:

  1. Prepare and send me the appropriate photographs. Below I have prepared detailed guidelines for you, including the essential photographs that will allow me to prepare your online colour analysis as accurately as possible*.
  2. Take your measurements carefully with a measuring tape and send me your current measurements. Make sure you can accurately measure your bust, waist and hip circumference, as well as your height. This will help me identify your body shape and tailor styling suggestions to your individual needs.
  3. Gather information about yourself. This includes your natural hair, eye and skin colour. You can send me photographs of yourself in different outfits that you often wear or that make you feel particularly confident. This will help me see your individual style, match the right wardrobe elements to it and offer you my suggestions.
  4. Think about your personal style. What kind of clothes do you like to wear? What are your favourite colours? What are your goals when it comes to your appearance? The more information you can give me, the better I will be able to help you.
  5. Prepare a list of questions. This is a great opportunity to learn as much as possible about colour analysis, your body shape and your personal style. Think about which colours you feel suit you and how you can incorporate the recommendations into your wardrobe.
  6. Dress comfortably. You will be on camera, so you want to feel confident and relaxed. Choose an outfit in which you feel good and that shows your figure clearly. Ideally, wear a fitted black top and black leggings.
  7. Make sure you have appropriate lighting during the online consultation. Choose a place at home where you have access to natural light or well-functioning lamps. Good lighting will help me assess your complexion and skin colour more accurately, as well as how the clothes sit on your body.
  8. Make sure you have a good Wi-Fi connection for the consultation, as a good internet connection is essential for the video call to run smoothly.
  9. Prepare a full-length mirror for the consultation, so that you can see yourself in the outfits and clothes we will be discussing as we go along.
  10. Have some of your favourite clothes ready in different colours and styles. You can bring some of the clothes you would like to ask me about, or choose several different wardrobe pieces representing different colour palettes. This will allow me to better match the right colours and styles to you.
  11. Be open to feedback. Finally, keep an open mind and be ready to experiment. An online colour and body shape analysis can reveal completely new styling possibilities for you. Be open to suggestions and allow yourself to discover new possibilities in fashion. I am here to help you, so feel free to ask questions. I may recommend colours or outfits that you are not used to, but it is important to be open to new ideas. I will not dress you up in a way that is not you; I will simply make suggestions. Being open will allow you to discover new aspects of yourself. I am here to help you create your unique style based on your needs. My basic principle is: dress, don't disguise.

I hope these tips will help you prepare for your online colour and body shape analysis.

* HOW TO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE PHOTOGRAPHS REQUIRED FOR AN EFFECTIVE ONLINE COLOUR ANALYSIS

I would like you to send me photographs, preferably without make-up, taken in natural light where you are illuminated WELL and EVENLY from all sides, but NOT in direct sunlight.

1/ I need a photograph showing one open eye, with the colour of the iris clearly visible (see the photograph/example below)

2/ photographs of your face and upper body with a blouse, scarf, blanket (any fabric or larger item, preferably in) 6 colours: light pastel (cool) pink,
Pastel light grey,
pastel (warm) orange
a strong, saturated (cool) pink such as amaranth/fuchsia
a strong, saturated orange (warm)
Saturated cobalt blue

! It is important that all these photographs are taken using exactly the same settings.

Sending these photographs will help me determine more precisely which colours suit you best and exactly which colour type you are.

Due to different monitor settings, below I provide approximate colours and Pantone numbers.

Remember that an online colour analysis and body shape analysis are an excellent opportunity to better understand your individual styling needs. With this information, you will be able to choose colours and clothes more precisely, enhancing your natural beauty.
